Mathematics was taught and developed about 5,000 years ago. Since ancient times, man felt the need to count and measure quantity, distance and time. In India, Mathematics emerged since 1200 BC. Indian Scholars like Aryabhatta, Brahmagupta, Mahavira, Bhaskaracharya or Bhaskara II, Madhava and Nilkanth Somayaji were some of the pioneers in the field of Mathematics. In fact, the decimal number system, concept of zero as a number, negative numbers, arithmetic and algebra, trigonometry are some of the few contributions to the world by then Indian Mathematicians.
We the students of St. Gregorios High School will like to explore and learn the concepts of Maths in all walks of life. We will like to meet people and make them aware of the fact that Maths is not tedious as they think but is lot of fun to work with. We will like to explain them the fact that knowingly and unknowingly they are using the Mathematical concepts in their everyday life. The traces of Mathematical concepts could be seen in Nature, Kitchen and Cooking, Sports, Space and exploration, Architecture etc.
